TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Residents in the vicinity of Malang District are seen packing a toll road construction site on the finding of alleged ancient structure remnants that is believed to date back to the Majapahit empire in the 1500s.
While the construction continues, many locals came to see the alleged ancient brickwork; “I was curious, it’s said that they found gold and ancient vase here,” said one of the locals to Tempo on Thursday.
The finding is left to be identified by the Trowulan East Java Heritage Hall (BPCB), who was at the scene.
BPCB Trowulan Head Andi Muhamad said that he has not received the official report from the field team but initial photographs suggest that the size of the bricks look visually similar to the bricks in the Majapahit era.
Andi announced that the next step from the organization is to wait for the report by the field crews and assures that it would be made into a cultural heritage by the BTCB.
